![]() ![]() On a day when the temperature in the UK was lower than in Greenland, anglers descended on the banks of the great lake to try and catch their first trout of the season. Its the end of my season but perhaps there are chances of some great fish before Rutland closes for 2013 for many of you. Rutland Water has had a fantastic year with some of the best fish its ever produced being caught, not to mention the record fish by Tom Cooper. There doesn't seem to have been the Fry Feeding frenzy that we normally get at Rutland, possibly because of the mid weather? Fish have been feeding on corixa and hog louse, and RWFF member Nigel Woolnough reported a fish last week full of Daphna! Another Angler was fishing in the area and tempted 2 fish to a Gold Head Hares ear and a Diawl Bach. The weed beds were providing a late opportunity for the trout and angler alike as they would normally have died back by now.Īfter a couple of tentative pulls near the Blue pipes, fishing along the bank down to Fantasy Island produced nothing for the bag. The recent heavy winds have blow this onto the banks. The water was very clear but there wasn't much weed left in the margins. A moderate South South Westerly was blowing into the Normanton Bank with an air temperature of around 8 degs C, a water temperature of 4 degs C in the margins and an overcast sky looked perfect for a few late season sizable fish. The conditions this morning were not what you would have normally expected. ![]() A un-seasonally mild December day today at Rutland Water as the fishing draws to an end. ![]()
